Free Citizenship Classes Offered Every Monday Evening
To assist individuals in passing the citizenship test, the IIA holds a free citizenship class every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at its 207 E. Tallmadge Ave. location. For more information, call 330-376-5106, Ext. 15. IIA is in Need of Starter Housekeeping Kits for Newly Arriving Refugees
By providing housekeeping starter kits to all of our newly arriving refugee families, the IIA ensures that refugees will have a healthy start to their life in Akron. Your contribution of $20 to the Education Department will help us to provide low-cost, "green" cleaning alternatives to our students during our Life Skills Program -Clean and Happy Home.
Items for the housekeeping starter kit include baking soda, spray bottle, white vinegar, rubber gloves, dish soap, green scour pads, bucket, broom and dustpan, and small storage containers. Call 330-376-5106, Ext. 26.
Donations Needed
The IIA is in need of funds to help purchase new mattresses and bed linens for arriving refugee families. There is also a need for bath towels, kitchen towels and umbrellas for families. Call 330-376-5106, Ext. 26.Donations of new blankets are also being accepted and can be dropped off at the IIA during office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
